Nobody should have to choose between independence and safety.
ElderEX is a mobile app that connects elderly individuals with trusted adults — caregivers or volunteers — for everyday support.
Not medical care, and not a nursing home. The ordinary things: getting to a doctor's appointment, going for a walk, running errands, a hand with something physical. Tasks small enough to feel embarrassing to ask for, and large enough that going without them means going without.
The gap it closes is specific. Family aren't always nearby. Formal care is priced and scoped for medical need, not for company on a walk. And the informal option — a neighbour, a volunteer, somebody's cousin — has no structure around it, which means the person carrying the risk is always the one least able to absorb it.
Verified caregiver profiles
Every caregiver is verified before they can accept a request, with a profile a family member can actually read. The person at the door is a known quantity, not a name in a text message.
Live location tracking
Support doesn't stop at the doorstep. A clinic trip or a walk around the block is trackable in real time, so an adult child in another city can see the appointment happened and their parent got home.
Emergency panic button
One control, always reachable, no menu to navigate. An emergency feature has to work when the user is frightened and not thinking clearly — so it can't be buried, and it can't ask a question first.
Rebook the same caregiver
The feature I care most about and the easiest one to leave out. Trust is built with a person, not a platform. If a walk went well, the next one should be with the same person by default — so the relationship compounds instead of resetting to a stranger.
The principle underneath all four
Each feature is the same decision made four times: reduce what the older person has to take on faith. Verification handles who. Tracking handles where. The panic button handles what if. Rebooking handles again.
An app for this audience fails on interface long before it fails on features — so it's built for someone nervous about smartphones. Large targets, plain words, few decisions per screen, nothing important hidden behind an icon.
